Annette is a vision impaired graphic designer and digital artist based in Dubbo, NSW. The name “Minus Melanin” reflects the genetic condition albinism from which her vision impairment originates.
Through art and design, she endeavours to capture the authenticity and essence of life, translating the character and presence of her subjects into thoughtful visual works.
Her creative process combines research, observation, imagination, and interpretation, allowing each piece to move beyond likeness and into something more alive. Using assistive technology and digital tools to support her creative practice and reveal fine details that may otherwise be difficult to access, she approaches each work with patience, curiosity, and precision.
Her current focus includes people and pet portraits, as well as Australian wildlife, with a particular interest in conveying the energy, personality, and spirit of each subject.
